UAF faculty and staff,

In my message on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, I shared that we are closely watching the state budget process. Additionally, I shared information from a memo I sent to the vice chancellors with short-term budget guidance.

The UA system Federal Relations team, Executive Director John Latini and Associate Director Denae Benson have been closely monitoring activity at the federal level. They are hosting an NSF-focused today, Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m. Alaska Time, via . I encourage you to attend. You will continue to find updates on the federal relations regarding federal actions.

John has also shared that they are reviewing the proposed federal budget materials as quickly as possible to provide us with updates. They continue to work with the Alaska Congressional Delegation to support UA priorities. John opened a to gather information and effects from the proposed cuts. I encourage you to make potential impacts known through this mechanism.

I will be holding another virtual forum on the federal landscape on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. This session will be similar to the one we had in May that included UA system General Counsel Wayne Mowery, UA Federal Relations Director John Latini, and Vice Chancellor for Research Laura Conner. We will provide updates on federal actions and answer questions.
