Shubin receives new counselor award

At its annual conference in May, the Western Association for College Admission Counseling awarded Casey Shubin its 2025 Murdoch-Finks New Admission Counselor Award. Casey has been UAF’s regional admissions counselor based in Los Angeles since last August.
WACAC says the award is “given to a relatively new college admission counselor who has contributed time and talent to the work of our organization and shows promise of future leadership within WACAC.” Shubin’s nomination stated, in part, “Every so often, a younger admission officer comes along who reinvigorates the professional excitement of those around them. She has a remarkable career ahead of her.”
Shubin came to UAF from UCLA, where she was the assistant director for freshman recruitment at UCLA. Prior to that, she was Whittier College’s campus visit coordinator. She’s a graduate of Loyola Marymount and Azusa Pacific University.
