The °Ä²Êͼ¿â is seeking a service-minded, customer-focused to oversee daily operations at The Pub—a rare and beloved social and cultural space on campus. Located in the heart of UAF,
The Pub is a student-staffed venue known for its mix of live music, events, and community
gatherings. This position plays a pivotal role in student development, event planning,
and creating a safe, welcoming atmosphere for students, faculty, and guests. This
is more than a bar management job—it’s a chance to shape campus life and mentor the
next generation of leaders.
Duties Include:

Manage day-to-day pub operations, including scheduling, staffing, and vendor relations

Supervise, mentor and build a true team of student employees to assist with the coordination of live music events, trivia nights, and other social programming

Ensure compliance with state alcohol laws and university policy

Monitor inventory and maintain supply chain for beverages and merchandise
-
Cultivate a welcoming, engaging and safe pub atmosphere for all patrons
Ideal Candidate:

Has experience in food & beverage or event venue management

Must be able to make decisions independently, along with decisions that require significant
discretion.
Fiscal management, including budgeting, forecasting expenditures, and revenue generation.
Ability to interpret and articulate changes to existing laws and regulations that
apply to alcohol licensing, borough regulations, tax requirements, and state of Alaska
laws regarding food/alcohol/and resale operations.
Program and event development, goal setting, marketing, and promotion.
Alcohol and food serving experience.
Knowledge of concert promotion, including working with agents and talent.
Able to create and lead positive customer service practices and training.
Knowledge and experience using/applying student development theory and student affairs
best practices.
Three years of relevant experience in any of the following: business functions, service
industry, student affairs areas.
Previous experience with event planning, marketing, contract negotiations, supervision,
training experience, budget management, and resale best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience
related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must get and maintain an alcohol-serving permit (TAPS), and ServSafe Food Protection
Manager certification.
Must have a valid Alaska driver's License.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, term-funded, 11 month exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the , Grade 79, based on education and experience.

Job Summary
Summary: Responsible for clerical functions and administrative support of food service programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer telephones and direct inquiries in a professional and client centric manner.
- Maintain confidential personnel files.
- Assist management staff in preparing confidential employment and labor relations documents, including but not limited to proposed disciplinary notices.
- Assist with staffing, including finding staff when employees call out on short notice.
- Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, school personnel, administrators, student's parents and Supervisor.
- Complete and maintain accurate and up to date records of students eligible for free and reduced priced lunches if applicable.
- Enter weekly cash sales and meal counts using computer.
- Perform daily bank deposit reconciliation.
- Process vendor invoices for payment - using computer, making sure addition is correct and checking item prices against bid specifications, making sure there is no discrepancy in pricing.
- Perform monthly vendor statement reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly state claim form for reimbursement.
- Assist in preparation of end of month financial reports.
- Attend in-service and/or safety meetings as required.
- Maintain clean and safe work environment; ability to perform job safely.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
